Unfortunately due to the
overwhelming number of spammers,
we have had to close the
CenturionSoft Forum. We
apologize for this. Below
however are some of the
highlighted questions which may
be of help to you:
1.
Having trouble unlocking
CenturionMail?
Unlocking CenturionMail is
basically two easy steps.
1. You must first register.
2. Once registered you will
receive an Unlock Code
which you enter to unlock
the product.
Note: The unlock code is
NOT the Customer Code
you received when you purchased
CenturionMail. If you are
confused about the different
numbers see the bottom of this
message.
Here are detailed
instructions:
When you first install
CenturionMail, it runs in trial
mode. To unlock CenturionMail
you will first need to have
purchased a copy of the product
and have a "Customer Code".
1. Open CenturionMail and
select "Register and Unlock".
2. Write down or "copy" (using
CTRL-C) the Application Code
listed in the box.
3. Click Register.
4. Complete the Registration
Form. Be sure to enter your
Customer Code and
Application Code correctly
and in the appropriate boxes.
Also make sure your email
address is correct. Failure
to do so may cause a delay in
processing your unlock code.
Click SEND.
5. We will email you your
Unlock Code usually within a
few minutes. In some cases,
however, it may take a little
longer. It will always be sent
within 24 hours.
6. Once you have your Unlock
Code, go back to
CenturionMail and select
Register and Unlock. Enter the
Unlock Code in the box in Step 2
and click UNLOCK.
7. CenturionMail should now be
unlocked.
8.
If you still get an error
message, check the following:
Are you typing in the Unlock
Code or using the copy / paste
functions (CTRL-C and CTRL-V)?
If you are typing make sure that
any 0's are typed in as zeros
and not the letter. Better yet,
try the copy / paste function as
ensures that there is no typo.
If you're using the Copy / Paste
function and still getting the
error, there are three
possibilities:
1. Make sure that you are not
adding any spaces when you copy
the unlock code. Try deleting
any space before or after once
you paste it into the box.
2. If that doesn't work, confirm
that the Application Code listed
is still the same as the one you
sent us when you registered. It
might be different if you
changed systems or did any major
system upgrade since that time.
If it is different, you will
need to request a new unlock
code.
3. Finally, make sure you have
Administrator rights on the
system you are registering. You
need administrator rights in
order to unlock CenturionMail -
see below. This is
particularly important in
Windows VISTA.
2. Still
Having trouble unlocking
CenturionMail - Setting Admin
Rights
If you've made sure that your unlock code has been entered
correctly and still get a
message saying that the unlock
code is invalid, please try the
following:
If you are using the
Windows 7 or VISTA
operating system.
1. Please go to C:/Program
Files/CenturionMail/Cmapp.exe
and right click on it.
2. Click on properties at the
bottom of the menu then navigate
to the “Compatibility” Tab.
3. On the bottom of the
compatibility menu you will see
“Privilege Level”
4. Check the box “Run this
program as an administrator”
5. Click on “Apply” and “OK” and
exit.
If you are running Outlook
2006 or Outlook 2007 using
Windows 7 or VISTA
then you will need also to run
Outlook in the administrative
mode as well.
1. Please go to C:/Program
Files/Microsoft Office/Office12
(Note: Depending on your version
could also be Office11)
2. Right Click on the
Outlook.exe
3. Click on properties at the
bottom of the menu then navigate
to the “Compatibility” Tab.
4. On the bottom of the
compatibility menu you will see
“Privilege Level”
5. Check the box “Run this
program as an administrator”
6. Click on “Apply” and “OK” and
exit.
If you are using Windows XP,
please be sure you have
administrator rights to the
registry and are not a
“restricted or limited user”.
3.
Padlock Not Showing in Outlook
The "padlock" icon for
CenturionMail's Outlook plug-in
should appear in the message
composing window after you
select New Message or Reply or
Forward an existing message. See
image below, on the right hand
side...
If
you don't see it there are a
couple of things to check:
1. Make sure you are using
Microsoft Outlook and not
Outlook Express. The plug-in is
only available currently for
Outlook. Outlook Express uses a
completely different method for
plug-ins and we will include it
in future versions.
2. Check to see if you are using
Word as your default email
editor. In Outlook, select Tools,
Options, Mail Format. If you use
Word, the plug-in appears in the
main Outlook window rather than
the message composing Window.
This is due to the fact that
Word is a different program
which doesn't incorporate
Outlook plug-ins. You will need
to select to encrypt before
you select new message,
reply, or forward - or deselect
Word as your email editor.
3. If neither of these is the
case, click on "Help", "About
Microsoft Outlook" and finally "Disabled
Items" to see if CenturionMail
is. If CenturionMail is listed
as a disabled item, please click
on it and then "Enable".
4. If CenturionMail is NOT
listed as a Disabled Item:
In Outlook please make sure
under "View" , "Toolbars" that
item "Standard" is checked. If
you still can't see the icon,
please go to the end of the
Toolbar and click on show
buttons on two rows as the icon
may have been hidden.
4.
Recipient Can't Receive
Encrypted Attachment
If your recipient can't receive your CenturionMail encrypted
attachment, check to see in what
file format you sent it.
Most likely you sent it in the
default ZIP file format. Some
companies, however, block
recepients from receiving this
file format.
Try re-sending the encrypted
message using the custom CEF
file format. You can select this
by selecting OPTIONS in the
dialog window where you enter
the password to be used for
encrypting. In most cases this
will solve the issue.
You can change the default file
format for all encrypted message
attachements by going to
CenturionMail, Options,
Preferences and selecting the
Custom File Extension - which is
by default CEF.
5.
The Advantage of using the CEF
File Format
A lot of companies have recently indicated that they are finding it
advantageous to use the CEF (custom)
file format as the default
format for their encrypted
emails rather than ZIP.
The advantage is that this
format is never blocked by the
recipients server while ZIP
files can often be blocked.
The recipient can still open the
CEF encrypted file without
installing any additional
software - although they do need
to rename the file before
reopening. Instructions for
doing this are automatically
included in the unecnrypted
portion of the email.
Even, more convenient though, is
if the recipient installs the
very small "Open CEF" utility -
which will allow them to open
any CEF file directly by
clicking on it.
The Open CEF utility can be
downloaded free of charge from
the following link:
http://www.centurionsoft.com/docs/opencef.exe
The file is only 53k and
installs within seconds. Also,
anyone that has CenturionMail
3.0 installed will already be
able to read CEF files
automatically.
